A self-proclaimed whistleblower is making some serious allegations against Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services department.
An email sent to the mayor and city council claimed ACPS employees were euthanizing dogs that were deemed sick or aggressive, but the anonymous worker claimed the dogs were neither sick nor aggressive.
The ACPS insider also said employees were weeks behind on vaccinations and workers were “in a panicked rush to get them caught up.”
Along with animal misconduct, the whistleblower also claimed there was misconduct among the staff. The insider claimed two senior staff members were inappropriately touching each other in a dark room.
These allegations come after the ACPS helped more than 1,000 pets find homes through the Mega Adoption event.
WOKV reached out to the city of Jacksonville for comment. The mayor’s office said in an email that the city “is committed to ensuring that Animal Care and Protective Services provides effective services to citizens and quality care to the animals in its possession.”
The spokesperson also said an investigation into the claims would be conducted by the Employee Services department.
