Widespread rain and storms through the weekend, lots of rain for some neighborhoods

Forecast averages 1-4'', 5''+ in some spots by Sunday.

Jacksonville, FL — Tuesday storms packed a punch in several neighborhoods during the afternoon, as the First Alert Storm Center tracked severe thunderstorm warnings in Clay, Duval and St. Johns Counties.

While isolated, there were damage reports. A home in Orange Park sustained damage from a tree. Small hail was reported in Argyle Forest. A tree was reported down on Loretto Road in Mandarin. And downed wires slowed traffic on San Jose near Julington Creek Road.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says we’re about to enter a stretch of multiple days with widespread rain and storms, with lots of rain forecast for some neighborhoods.

Over the weekend all bets are off when it comes to rain potential, including after dark when fireworks displays are planned.

“We could even have showers and storms be outside of the peak heating part of the day which we’re used to in the afternoon and evening. We may have some overnight and even morning showers and thunderstorms at times”, Buresh said.
