Jacksonville, FL — A couple of damage reports have come in, in the aftermath of the implosion of the old City Hall Annex in Downtown Jacksonville.
Almost immediately after the implosion, our partner Action News Jax could see several windows of the Blackstone Building had shattered.
As roads re-open in that area, our reporters have found some damaged windows at the Churchwell Building as well.
The City of Jacksonville also confirms that a gas line was “impacted” during the implosion. They have not said what the extent of that damage is, but repairs are underway and no evacuations have taken place.
Regarding the damage, the City says everything is being assessed.
“Any damage to property resulting from the implosion is being addressed by the contractor and repaired promptly,” says a statement from the City.
The statement further says everything with the implosion went according to plan.
Environmental Holdings Group, LLC was awarded a $7.985 million contract from the City of Jacksonville to demolish both the Annex and the old County Courthouse. The Courthouse is being demolished without implosion.
