Woman treated for Jax Beach shark bite

A woman was treated for a possible shark bite at Jacksonville Beach.

According to a Jacksonville Beach Police Department report, the incident took place around 11 a.m. Tuesday on the beach two-and-a-half miles south of the pier.

The 44-year-old woman was transported to Baptist Beaches Hospital with minor injuries. She told police she was standing in waist-deep water when she felt something bite her foot and she shook it around.

The woman was treated on the beach by lifeguards and fire rescue crews, before being taken to the hospital.

“I look over and I see blood and a towel around her foot,” said Claire Kenaston, witness.

"She was calm, very calm," said Kenaston. "She was a good sport about it."

Witness Claire Kenaston said the victim as not panicking.
