Jacksonville, FL — It tied up traffic through the afternoon and into the evening Monday as a man who was attempting to cross Monument Road was hit by a vehicle and died.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says 80-year-old Clarence Gibbs died as a result of the crash. He had lived in the area.
It's unclear where he was going at the time he was hit and police say the driver remained on scene.
Jacksonville Police say this is the 16th traffic death in 2019.
