26-year-old man still missing in Orange Park Pond

Early Saturday morning, two men and a woman were out in Orange Park on a canoe, when they fell into the water.

Neighbors at the Landmark at Vista Grande Apartments say everything seemed fine until they heard screams.

"A whole bunch of ladies were outside screaming, they screamed for me outside and said 'Call 911,' I was the first one to all 911,"
said neighbor Terry Arnold.

"One lady jumped out and swam to shore, one guy grabbed a bucket and floated," said Arnold.

Once in the water, the three tried to get to safety.

The other man, 26 year-old Richmond Gard-Chambers, wasn't as lucky.

Another neighbor says she was talking to Gard-Chambers, trying to calm him down, when he went under.

"The other young man when we were screaming for him he was frantically screaming in a really bad panicky voice he stayed up for a little while and when we screamed again 'Sir are you OK? Are you still moving?' We didn't get a response." she said.

She says Gard-Chambers went under water and never resurfaced.

The woman says she's a life guard and she and her brother jumped into save the drowning man, but rescuers arrived, and called them out of the water.

Gard-Chambers was not found as of Sunday evening.
