13-year-old shot by 11-year-old; Two adults charged

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says Jamarius Vining was playing with a loaded .22 caliber handgun on Saturday afternoon and shot 13-year-old Titania Mitchell, killing her instantly.

Police arrested Jamarius' mother, 28-year-old Trashonda Richardson, and her boyfriend, 39-year-old Eric Pearlman and has charged them with culpable negligence and improper storage of a firearm. The police report states that Pearlman admitted to keeping the .22 caliber handgun unsecured in his closet among some shorts as well as a loaded shotgun between the headboard of the bed and wall.

JSO says Titania was at the home visiting some of the other children, with whom she was friends.
