Arizona traffic stop nets record-setting $4.1 million meth bust, authorities say

A Jan. 24 traffic stop on Interstate 15 just south of Littlefield resulted in two arrests and the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s largest methamphetamine bust on record, multiple news outlets reported.

Julie Jeannie Mason, 52, of Burlington, Iowa, and 38-year-old Maurius Montez Mason, of Peoria, Illinois, were arrested for possession of a dangerous drug and transportation of a dangerous drug, KTNV reported.

According to KHQA, the bust netted 362 pounds of the drug worth an estimated $4.1 million.

The St. George News reported the drugs were found inside the Utah-bound SUV, wrapped in black plastic bags and concealed inside numerous duffel bags stashed throughout the vehicle.
