Remington Arms has offered to build hospital supplies including ventilators, surgical masks and beds, joining several other companies to help fight against the spread of the coronavirus.
The company offered nearly 1 million square feet of unused manufacturing space at a plant in Ilion, New York, Ken D'Arcy, CEO of the gunmaker, wrote in a letter Monday to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and President Donald Trump, the Ithaca Journal reported.
Cuomo said the state has 7,000 ventilators, but needs at least 30,000. There are more than 30,000 confirmed cases and 325 deaths in New York State, the majority of which are in New York City, The New York Times reported.

Remington joins other companies that have adapted to help fight the coronavirus. Many distilleries have started making hand sanitizer. Ford and General Motors have also discussed making ventilators and other medical equipment.
