CLEVELAND — An Ohio woman was arrested at a grocery store last month for refusing to wear a mask, authorities said.
Karen Turner, 55, of Parma Heights, was charged with resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, and failure to disclose information, according to records filed with the Berea Municipal Court. Turner pleaded not guilty and was released after posting $5,000 bail, according to court records.
The arrest stems from an incident at a Marc’s grocery store in Brook Park on Jan. 18, WOIO reported.
According to Brook Park police, Turner was arrested after refusing to leave Marc’s after being asked by employees because she was in violation of the store’s mask policy, the television station reported.
Body camera video showed Turner refusing to leave the store or provide identification to Brook Park officers. Turner is also shown resisting officers as she was taken to a police cruiser, WOIO reported.
Turner was in violation of a statewide mask order by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine in July 2020. The order required all people to wear facial coverings at all times in public when social distancing is not possible.
Turner has another court appearance scheduled Feb. 8, according to WOIO.
