Woman’s Facebook call for help results in husband’s miraculous life-saving transplant

It was just last December when Scott Casterwiler went into kidney failure out of the blue.

His wife, Kerri Casterwiler, was so afraid of losing him; she went on Facebook with a plea for help and prayers.

“I don't put personal things out there,” Kerri Casterwiler said.  “I knew I had to put this out there: ‘Please pray for Scott who went into sudden kidney failure.’”

Kim George, from Mercer County, saw the Facebook post and immediately reached out.

“I remember it saying Scott needed a kidney,” George said. “He had no function at all and immediately, I gave her a call and told her I'd be willing if they need anything to donate.”

George and Scott Casterwiler are related. They’re second cousins that see each other once a year.

George would ultimately offer to donate her kidney.

Scott Casterwiler needed the kidney and he needed it fast.

“If I wouldn't have gotten there that day I would've been dead,” Scott Casterwiler said.

Nov. 2, the two met in a hospital. George gave her cousin the kidney and the operation was a success.

On Thanksgiving, the cousins got back together for the holidays, this time, with Scott Casterwiler in much better health.

“There are no words besides thank you for saving his life and giving my husband freedom. Freedom of the dialysis, from the dialysis,” Kerri Casterwiler said.
