Jacksonville, FL — It's another step forward in the plan to deepen Jacksonville's harbor.

The US Army Corps of Engineers has received 6 different bids for the first phase of the job and they're all lower than the government's estimate of $43,170,000.00.

Susan Jackson, with the US Army Corps of Engineers, has released the following statement about the bids:

"The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers feels fortunate to have an apparent low bid like this (Dutra Group's). It's not a done deal, however. We will still work through our contracting process and anticipate awarding the contract at the end of September. Construction should start in early- to mid-December and end in May 2019."
