Jacksonville, FL — Beaches Energy is issuing two, new scam warnings for their customers.
The first, is what the call bill payment scammers, where someone calls you up, claiming to be from the utility company, and demands an immediate payment. If you refuse, they threaten to shut off your service.
Beaches Energy says they often 'spoof' the number on the caller ID, to make it appear as the utility company.
They recommend never making a payment to anonymous callers. Beaches Energy also recommends calling them directly, at their emergency number, (904) 247-6171, if you get a call like this.
This is a scam alert from Beaches Energy Services. If you receive a suspicious phone call about your utility services, please contact Beaches Energy immediately at 904-247-6241. pic.twitter.com/qHgZWkA1bW

Meanwhile, the second scam involves unsolicited energy audit calls.
Beaches Energy says it's where a scammer calls you or just shows up at your front door, without an appointment. They then try to sell you energy-related services or equipment.
They say if you didn't initiate the appointment, don't let anyone inside your home. If you did arrange the appointment, they still recommend asking to see identification, before letting anyone inside.
