The County Road 218 bridge in Clay has been closed, after an inspection found possible safety issues as a result of Irma.
The FDOT confirms with WOKV that they performed an initial assessment on the bridge previously, but once flood waters receded, they returned to do a thorough inspection. That inspection has shown some materials need replacement.
Clay County Emergency Management says they’re working toward an “appropriate solution”, but there’s no timeline for the repairs released at this time. Their recommended detour route is using Blanding and State Road 16.
The WOKV traffic team says, if you’re heading west on County Road 218, you may also want to consider Henley Road- which connects to Blanding and County Road 220.
Clay County Public Schools further says the bridge closure will cause delays for bus routes that use the bridge.
