The St. Augustine Police Department is looking for two vehicles that left the scene of a deadly hit an run. It happened just after 2a.m. Friday and closed a portion of U.S. 1 for approximately three hours.
A St. Augustine police sergeant told our partner Action News one person on a scooter was killed.
According to that sergeant, a white or silver Mazda hit an FPL pole and knocked it into the roadway and left the scene.
They say moments later someone on a scooter hit that pole and fell into the roadway. That's when a truck ran over the person who was in the roadway.
We're told the person in the truck stopped to speak to a witness and then left the scene.
They are still looking or both drivers and vehicles.
