Florida GOP and Dems react to President's visit

The Republican party of Florida and the Duval County Democratic party have very different takes on President Barack Obama's recent visit to the First Coast.

Lenny Curry, Chairman of the Republican party of Florida says he live tweeted about the President's visit. He said while what Obama said sounds good, he calls it more of the same.

"He said a lot of things that sounded good but he's been saying a lot of things about the economy when he's had to, since he was elected the first time."

Curry says on the other hand, Florida Governor Rick Scott campaigned on jobs for the economy and says under his leadership Florida's economy is growing and the unemployment rate is lower than the national average.

Chairman of the Duval County Democratic party, Neil Henrichsen disagrees. Henrichsen points the finger at the GOP for slow economic recovery.

"If the president says yes to something the kneejerk reaction from the Republican party and the House is no. That is very damaging to our economy."

Henrichsen says party politics are to blame for slow economic growth.

Both agree, however, that Jaxport is vital to the economic growth of Jacksonville.
