Gov. Scott open to changes in FL voting process

Governor Rick Scott says he's willing to consider changes to improve Florida's voting system.

In some counties such as Miami-Dade and Broward, voters stood in lines for hours.  Many weren't able to cast a ballot until after the TV stations had called the election for President Obama.

“It’s your state government,” Gov. Scott said at a news conference Wednesday.  “And I think your state government ought to be doing the exact same that you have to do, that businesses have to do.”

“Whenever you finish a project, in this case an election, let’s go back and look: what went right?  What can we improve?  Constantly look at, how can we improve things for you the citizens of the state?  How can we make sure we do it cost effectively?”

Scott recently came under fire by critics after he refused to use his emergency powers to extend the number of days of early voting.  The Republican-controlled Florida Legislature last year cut back the number of early voting days but kept the same amount of hours at 96.

Scott says he still believes the three main election issues are jobs, education and the cost of living.

“And I hope everybody that got elected has that same focus,” he said.
