Jacksonville, Fl. — Five people were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation following an early morning fire at Jacksonville Townhouse and Apartments on Philips Highway.
Firefighters conducted a room-by-room search of the apartments after the fire was put out.
“This could have been far worse, and I suppose considering again the size of the building and the location of where the fire was, it remained primarily a terrifying and frightening ordeal for the individuals that were involved. But fortunately no fatalities reported here and no critical injuries”, said JFRD spokesman Tom Francis.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office assisted JFRD on scene.
