JEA starting to communicate with individual customers directly on power restoration

As JEA restoration efforts continue and more and more people have their power restored, JEA says they will start to communicate with individuals on when their power will be back on.

CEO Paul McElroy says the company will start to communicate by phone and email later today. McElroy says JEA is starting to work on circuits. McElroy says once a crew has repaired a particular circuit, your power could be back on soon.

“This may not be visible to you, as we’ve said before, circuits can run anywhere form a couple of mile to ten miles, so the outage may be right in front of your home or it might be a couple of miles away.” McElroy says.

He says 123 circuits are down and 62 of those downed circuits are in the process of being repaired. He says 1 circuit serves about 2,500 homes.

“Our metrics are telling us now, that once we assign a crew to a circuit, 2,500 homes, your restoration can be viewed in hours away no longer days.” McElroy says.

McElroy says if you see anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, call a customer care representative directly, so JEA knows your outage has been reported. You can call them at 904-665-6000 or 800-683-5542, if you are a residential customer.

If you still need to report a power outage in the the City of Jacksonville, the city has 3 ways to report an outage. You can send your name, address, and phone number to poweroutage@coj.net, or you can ennter your outage information at 630city.coj.net, or call 630-CITY.
