Jacksonville, Fl. — A three-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head late Thursday night on Broadway Avenue.
Jacksonville Police says four people were in the home at the time- two adults and two children- when a black man in his mid-twenties walked in and started shooting.
"Most of us are parents so anytime that children are involved it goes to the heart," says Sgt. Rudlaff with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The toddler’s mother was shot in the leg, she was taken to the hospital will be okay. Police say another 5-year-old child was in the home at the time of the shooting. The adult male in the home told police that he was laying in bed with the woman and toddler when the shooting took place.

JSO says the suspect immediately fled the area and they are actively searching for him. There’s no suspect information available, beyond that the suspect is a black man in his mid-20s.
