It's a heartwarming one.

After a Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer's dog was shot during a break-in last week, he's finally back at home.

But Officer Paul Shaw says it's been a stressful few days, as Hemingway had to undergo serious surgery.

"Any dog, you know, you're concerned when they go under anesthesia and the serious of the procedure, I've been on pins and needles," Shaw explains.

But surgery went well, as veterinary specialists at Orange Park AVS were able to repair Hemingway's jaw and remove bullet fragments.

And they did it all for free!

Shaw says, "It is the Mayo Clinic of veterinary services."

He tells us the person who found Hemingway didn't want the reward, so he's thinking about donating that money to charity.
