Jacksonville, FL — It all started with an armed robbery investigation and ended with a man dead inside a Westside home.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating what it calls 'linked incidents.'
While responding to a robbery at a Wells Fargo on San Juan Avenue, police say their investigation led them to a home on Patrice Court.

A woman at the residence confirmed to police a man was still inside the home and that he had a firearm.
Officers asked the man to come outside, but that's when they say he became agitated.
"He eventually poked his head out of the front door, after opening it and stuck his arm out and fired a shot," says Ron Lendvay, the Director of Investigations and Homeland Security at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
A short time later, when the man opened the door again, Lendvay says an officer fired a number of shots at the suspect. It's not clear if the suspect was hit.
Lendvay says, "Although he would not communicate with police officers who were on the scene, he did make phone calls to family members from inside. And during those phone calls, he expressed remorse for a bad decision he had made this morning. He apologized to family members and noted to at least one family member he intended to kill himself."

SWAT members eventually forced the front door open and he was found to be dead at the front of the home.
At this time, police say the man has what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, but the investigation is still in its early stages.
The man's identity has not been released.
The officer who fired the shots also hasn't been identified at this time, but they have been placed on administrative leave.
