Judge denies bond in deadly gas station shooting

No bond for Michael Dunn, the 45-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a Jacksonville teen at a southside gas station.

A Duval County judge made that decision early this afternoon, meaning Dunn will remain behind bars until trial.

Dunn is facing first-degree murder charges for shooting and killing 17-year-old Jordan Davis at a Gate Gas Station off of Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road last November. According to reports, Dunn had originally approached Davis and three other friends, complaining about the loud music coming from their vehicle.

Dunn's attorney Cory Strolla released the following statement to WOKV: "We are obviously very disappointed with the Court's ruling. We firmly believe that the pre-trial detention of "No Bond" was clearly not warranted in this matter, especially in light of very similar cases of homicide in which the defendant's were granted a bond(having criminal records), nor indicted for first degree murder for that matter. The case of Israel Williams is right on point from Jacksonville just recently in February 2013. Very disheartening to say the very least. We plan on actively pursuing a remedy to the Judge's ruling issued today."

"We stand ready to go to trial and vigorously seek justice for our innocent victim," a spokesperson for the State Attorney's Office said.

Dunn is also facing three counts of attempted murder for the shooting.
