Local reps chime in on turmoil in Iraq

The United States is deploying several hundred troops in Iraq.

The decision was handed down by President Barack Obama late Monday night. The president notified Congress that nearly 275 troops could be deployed in Iraq to provide support and would be ready for military action.

We reached out to your represenatives. Some who say, we need a firm plan for handling the increasing insurgency violence in Iraq.

"You've got inaction in Syria, you've got abandonment in Iraq, you've got politically driven withdrawal from Afghanistan" said Congressman Ander Crenshaw.

He tells WOKV the United States needs to have a clear road map for Iraq. He doesn't believe it will be a quick fix.

We also heard from Congressman Ted Yoho. Yoho tells WOKV he hates to think that Iran will feel they have the upperhand in U-S foreign policy.

"I just see this not playing out well if we make alliances with Iran."

We also reached out to Congressman Ron DeSantis and Congresswoman Corrine Brown. We have not yet heard back from their offices.
