Prostitute arrested for murder after victim changed mind about hook-up

A Jacksonville man gets shot and killed after changing his mind about a meet-up with a prostitute.

We first told you Friday about the murder in Murray Hill. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old Russell Waddell was found dead on a couch in a home on French Street.

24-year-old Antoinette Boyd has now been arrested for murder and armed robbery. JSO says she is a prostitute who had advertised her services on backpage.com. She arranged to meet with Waddell at her home to have sex for $60, but then Waddell apparently changed his mind.

“They struggled over the money and he attempted to get out of the bedroom through the window. She struggled with him and prevented him from leaving the bedroom,” says JSO Lieutenant Steven Gallaher.

The dispute eventually went in to the living room, where Boyd called for another person in the home- 44-year-old Leondra Jones- to get her gun. The struggled continued, and Boyd shot Waddell in the chest, according to Gallaher.

“Boyd admitted to hiding the gun in the backyard, she also admitted to taking the money and putting it in her purse. Jones admitted to giving the gun toe Boyd,” Gallaher says.

Jones has also been arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Gallaher added that, initially, Boyd tried to claim she was sexually assaulted by one man while another man tried to rob her. He says her statement and that of Jones didn’t match with the evidence on scene.
