Saturday night storms produce tornado in Flagler County

No one was hurt Saturday night when a tornado appears to have touched down in Palm Coast.
Flagler County Emergency Management leaders say there are at least six homes that are considered a total loss.

After the storm around 7pm Saturday, emergency vehicles had roads blocked off in the area of Bridgehaven Drive and Palm Coast Parkway.

Palm Coast's communication director, Cindy Lane, tells our partner Action News the worst damage was in an area known as section B.

"We do have significant damage," said Lane. "We have roofs off of houses, we have roadways that are impassable, trees down significant power lines down."

Margaret Ibanez who lives on Bridgehaven Drive said her house shook as the storm rolled through.

"We've lost a lot of trees in the back," said Ibanez. "Our nativity set that we have in front of the house is still there but everything else is in the back in the lake, like the snow man and all our Christmas decorations."

Flagler County officials have set up a website where people can check for the latest updates.

National Weather Service meteorologists were expected to assess the damage Sunday morning.
