Shooting leads to dual crime scenes

Jacksonville police investigating a strange shooting on the Westside this morning that they say started with an altercation at an apartment complex and ended at a gas station a few blocks away.

"The victim apparently was shot in the [apartment complex] parking lot and drove a short distance to Lane and Lenox where he was found by other patrol units," says Sgt. Jay Farhat with JSO's homicide unit.

Police were investigating the two crime scenes and they say the shooting may have had something to do with drugs or prostitution based on what they heard from witnesses. The victim, a white man in his 20s, is in critical condition Tuesday morning. Police didn’t give much information about the suspect but did say they think they know who it is. They told us only that they were looking for a black male who was seen leaving the scene in a dark-colored F-150 truck.

Sgt. Farhat with JSO says they’ll be conducting search warrants in the area and talking to witnesses to get more evidence.
