Small business saturday was a smash for local business owners on the First Coast.
Sherry Lyford runs the RiverCity gourmet shop downtown and tells WOKV she won big this past Saturday. She says locals came out in droves to support Small business saturday.
"We had lots and lots of people come up and say hey, I'm coming up to buy from you because you're my small business owner."
Her store is European inspired and offers gourmet food and snacks.
Juan Gonzalez is the owner of Hemming Plaza Jewelery and says his sales also increased.
"My sales doubled for those two days."
He tells WOKV word of mouth traveled fast and says dozens of people poured into his store. Gonzalez says he's glad local residents supported him on small business Saturday. He says he, too, supports local organizations and charities and sponsors them whenever he has the opportunity.
