Two men shot outside Northside apartments

Neighbors on the Northside joined hands and bowed their heads in prayer Monday morning.

Only feet away from their huddle were almost a dozen bullet shells littering the parking lot of the Huron-Sophia apartment complex.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said two men were shot while standing in the complex’s parking lot around 5:45 a.m.

JSO told WOKV they do not know who fired the shots, but believe there were multiple shooters.

The names of the victims are unknown at this time, but police said one man is in his 20’s and the other man is in his 30’s.

One man was hit in the abdomen and the other was hit in the leg, according to police.  Both men were taken to UF Health, but police would not comment on their conditions.

Neighbors said there was a loud party going in the complex the night before the shooting.

Another neighbor who said she has been a resident of the area for more than 30 years told WOKV she hears gunshots at least once a week.

JSO said they do not receive an abnormal amount of calls to the apartment complex.

Police are canvassing the area and told WOKV this is still an active investigation.
