UNF police are watching close over campus after they say a young man walked up to a female student in the parking lot of Hicks Hall Wednesday afternoon, told her she was pretty, and then boldly asked her to have sex with him. She immediately refused and tried to ignore him.
"He kept asking her if she wanted to have sex, then he approached her from behind, put his hand on the back of her head and kissed her," says UNF Police Lt. Patty Knight.
And then without saying a word, Knight says the man, "just walked away."
It's a story that concerns Jessica Olson, another student who we met in that same parking lot just hours later.
"It's going to heighten your awareness of your surroundings so you can pick up on cues a little easier if something like that were to happen to you."
Now, Knight needs help from other students to identify the man and find out if this has ever happened before.
"We just want to resolve the case and we don't want this to happen to anyone else."
The man will face battery charges if caught.
If you are approached by someone, Knight says you should yell for help and run to a populated location.
If you've had a similar encounter or know the man fitting the description below, call UNF police at 620-2800. You can remain anonymous.
