Police find missing stroller in Perrywinkle case

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a tip from a resident led them to a critical piece of evidence in the murder of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle.

Police say after being called out to the 2300 block of Broward Road on Jacksonville's Northside on Saturday they were able to confirm the stroller was the one authorities had been searching for since Cherish was abducted and murdered back in June. Investigators first called the stroller a "key piece of evidence" in Perrywinkle's death. Police say finding the stroller was a very "important" part of the investigation that had been outstanding.

The stroller was found just blocks away from where witnesses say they spotted sex offender Donald Smith driving the day Cherish's body was found. Cherish was abducted from a Walmart on the Northside, her body found lifeless just hours later. Her accused killer, Smith, is facing several charges including 1st degree murder and kidnapping.
