We've got a scam alert for you.
Jacksonville Police are warning about a telephone recording telling residents you overpaid taxes to the city. According to police the recording offers a refund through a wire transfer or by donating the excess to the Save the Animals Foundation.
Crime Analyst Ken Jefferson and retired CSO officer says don't trust anyone who asks for your personal information about the phone.
"This is just a clever way scam artists are trying to use to prey on the vulnerable."
The call doesn't give you any opportunity to speak to an actual person.
Jefferson says the goal, "Try to get information out of you such as your personal bank account numbers or your social security number or your date of birth."
The Sheriff's Office says it is just a scam trying to get your personal information. You should contact authorities if you receive these messages.
