JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville sheriff’s Officer Ernesto Valerio was on the prowl Friday night in search of street racers and super speeders. In his unmarked car on the Buckman Bridge, a Dodge Challenger was directly in front of him as it drove next to a red Corvette.

“Look at these guys blocking everything,” Valerio says as the Corvette driver holds up his hand out of the window and then gives the signal initiating a race with the Challenger.

The two cars take off. “Oh, and they’re racing now, right in front of me,” Valerio says in the video JSO released on social media Tuesday. The cars reached speeds of 120 miles per hour, police said.

Valerio takes off after the cars and the video later shows him arresting the driver of the Challenger, which appeared to lose the race against the Corvette.

Arrested was 22-year-old Quashay Frazier Jr. charged with super speeding and racing.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the arrest was one of eight it made Friday and Saturday as it targeted street racers and super speeders.

“Driving this recklessly puts lives at risk. Plain and simple,” JSO’s social media post states.
