Duval Navigators make final push to get you enrolled

A last minute surge from those on the First Coast trying to meet the federal healthcare deadline- and matching surge in people trying to guarantee that happens.

“We wanted to make sure we had every window covered where we couldn’t possibly miss anybody,” says First Coast Multi-Lines Agency General Manager Mincy Pollock.

The Agency has partnered with several organizations today to host “Day Break to Midnight”, an enrollment event at the Jax Total Care Medical CenteRx at 1126 N University Blvd. They have Navigators and volunteers on hand through just before midnight tonight to help people meet the deadline.

It’s been a challenge, though, with glitches on healthcare.gov today.

“We’re also getting on the phone, calling the marketplace, doing everything we possibly can to make it work,” says Jenna Jennings, a Navigator with the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida.

Because you only have to start your enrollment process today, rather than complete it as the deadline initially stated, it takes off some of the strain.

“If they show that they have given some sort of an effort to get an application completed, there may be an extension available to them,” she says.

Pollock says they have multiple ways to get an application started at the event today, even if the website continues to be a problem.

If you don’t begin enrollment by the end of today, you will face a financial penalty and could lack coverage until the next enrollment period.
