Father of three killed after asking Southside house party to be quiet

A Southside house party ends in tragedy after 34-year old Dustin Minarik is killed.

It all happened just after midnight Sunday at a home on the 3000 block of Kline Road. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Minarik, who wasn't even at the party, was shot and killed and he was left lying on the roadway.

"He came out to move a work vehicle and asked them to calm down and apparently when he turned around they shot at him without any warning, with nothing," said Annie Minarik, wife.

Annie Minarik tells our partner CBS 47/Fox 30 Action News her husband was a hard worker and an even better dad. Their three children are now forced to grow up without him.

"They just want to see him one last time. That's all they keep saying to me, they just want to see their dad," said Minarik crying.

Two crime scene units were at the home where the party took place Sunday. Crime scene technicians were taking pictures and dusting a pickup truck for prints.

According to the JSO, after the shots rang out, a large number of people fled the area.

"They need to come forward because for my husband to be murdered in cold blood for no reason, it's not right," said Minarik.

According to Minarik, her husband worked on the paint and body of cars.

A full investigation is ongoing. So far no suspects have been identified. If you know anything, you're asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
