A Jacksonville city councilman is drafting emergency legislation for dune restoration.
City Councilman Bill Gulliford is drafting emergency legislation to authorize Mayor Lenny Curry to spend $7 million on dune restoration.
The dunes were damaged during Hurricane Matthew earlier in October.
Gulliford said he will propose legislation at Tuesday's council meeting. The proposal would authorize emergency spending of $7 million by the mayor to pay for dune restoration.
The emergency authorization means it would not need to pass through committees; once members vote Tuesday the mayor could move ahead.
