Mack goes after Obama, Nelson in remarks to FL delegation

Congressman Connie Mack was one of the speakers on the docket Thursday morning at the final delegation breakfast.  He gave remarks on all the reasons why voters must remove Senator Bill Nelson from office this November.

During his remarks to the delegation he joked he was going to have to work hard to follow New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who preceeded him, and to hold his own against Newt Gingrich who spoke after Mack.  The Congressman, like Christie, turned his remarks toward the character and kind of man Mitt Romney is,  once again trying to connect Romney’s personal side to voters.  Mack then turned his attention to his opponent, Senator Nelson, saying he has voted to raise taxes over 150 times, not to mention, said Mack, Nelson's involvment in Obamacare.

"There are only two people in this race, in the presidential race or the Senate race, that have voted for or signed legislation to take money out of Medicare and pay for Obamacare, and that's Senator Nelson and Barack Obama.  They have a lot of explaining to do."

I asked Senator Mack after his speech about the recent ads from Nelson accusing him of getting in bar fights and being a promoter for Hooters restaurant.

"I think it's sad that a 40 year career politician like Senator Nelson has nothing else to offer the people of the state of Florida other than a smear campaign on me."

Mack is scheduled to make remarks Thursday evening ahead of Mitt Romney's acceptance speech on the final night of the Republican National Convention.
