Occupy Jax to sue city

The Occupy Jacksonville movement is suing the city to allow them to keep their signs and items in front of city hall.

A lawyer for the movement filed a motion in federal court Tuesday for an injunction against the city that would prevent them from removing the Occupiers' items.

Jacksonville deputy general counsel Howard Maltz sent a letter to Occupy last week asking them to move their belongings by Tuesday, otherwise the city would confiscate them.

Occupiers argue their signs should be treated no differently than any sign supporting a political candidate.
