Shooting victim refuses to cooperate with police

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detained two women after one of them was shot on the Southside Friday.

JSO said the 24-year-old victim and her roommate refused to cooperate with investigators.

Police said the woman was shot in her left leg around 3 a.m. at The Club at Town Center apartment complex on St. Johns Bluff Road.

“We are not sure whether it’s self-inflicted, or whether it was the result of them arguing back and forth,” said JSO Sgt. Brian Shore.

Police told WOKV a man living next to the women called police after the victim asked him for help.

The man found a lot of blood inside the women’s apartment when he went to assist the victim, according to JSO.

Rescue workers took the victim to the hospital and she is expected to be okay, according to police.

“They (were) still being rather hostile at the hospital with the medical personnel too,” Sgt. Shore said.

Police said the women had been living together for at least six months.

Officers canvassed the area. One neighbor told police he might have heard a gunshot, but couldn’t tell if the noise was from a gun or from fireworks.

Officers found a pistol inside the women’s apartment.
