Suspected Julington Creek shooter arrested

A update to a Monday shooting in a neighborhood where you live.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 22-year-old Jermaine Kenneth Brown, Jr. of Orange Park for shooting a Jacksonville teen in a drug deal-gone-bad in Julington Creek.

Investigators say the 19-year-old victim was waiting for a drug deal in the parking lot of a Moe’s Restaurant on SR 13 North when the suspect jumped in to the back seat and demanded the teen’s money while holding a gun to his head. The teen was shot during a struggle for the gun, but drove himself to the hospital and he is now recovering.

Brown is facing felony charges of robbery with a firearm and attempted murder. He has been booked in to the Duval County Jail.
