A young man is dead, a teenager and a woman are in life-threatening condition after a multi-car crash on St. Johns Bluff and Beach Blvd. Thursday morning.
For an unknown reason, a 39-year-old woman driving a Nissan SUV southbound on St. Johns Bluff blew through the red light at Beach Blvd., jumped the concrete median and slammed into a Honda Accord that was waiting to turn north onto St. Johns Bluff from Beach Blvd.
The driver of the Nissan hit the Honda, occupied by an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old, forcing them into a gasoline tanker truck traveling eastbound on Beach Blvd. The tanker truck then collided with a Lexus traveling in the outside lane on Beach Blvd. eastbound.
The driver of the Nissan SUV and both teenage occupants of the Honda Accord were transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition.
JSO later told us 18-year-old Denny Grahovic died.
It is still unclear to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit why the driver of the Nissan SUV went through the red light but they do not have any indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
