13-year-old charged with gas station murder

13-year-old and 18-year-old cousins have been arrested for murder, and another teen is sought.

Jacksonville police tell us 13-year-old Jeremiah Hill arranged to swap guns with 25-year-old Tony Johnson at the BP gas station on North Main Street in the early morning hours of June 10. Hill brought his cousin 18-year-old Keyshaun Hill and 17-year-old Cameron Sneed to meet up with the victim and another man.

“For some unknown reason, Jeremiah Hill began to shoot Tony Johnson repeatedly,” says JSO Assistant Chief Chris Butler.

Johnson died, and police say the man with him was shot by Jeremiah Hill and Sneed while running away, but will recover.

Both Jeremiah and Keyshaun Hill have been arrested for murder. The arrest report shows Jeremiah Hill confessed to police after speaking with his mother.

"It makes it extremely helpful for us to put everything together," Butler says.

There is an active warrant out for Sneed, but his location is not known at this time. We’re told he has family in Decatur, GA, but lives a generally transient lifestyle, so the police are asking for your help. He’s described as a black male with black hair and brown eye, 5’11”, 155 lbs.

As for Keyshaun Hill, Butler says he will face a murder charge even though he didn’t shoot.

“He had many opportunities to distance himself from this incident and failed to do that, he had many opportunities to not be involved, but he took an active role in the event itself,” Butler says.

Keyshaun Hill has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery. Jeremiah Hill faces those charges as well as possession of a weapon by a delinquent.

WOKV asked the State Attorney’s Office whether Jeremiah Hill will be charged as a juvenile or adult. We’re told the case remains an active investigation and they will make the decision after fully reviewing the case. He’s currently being held in juvenile detention.
