JSO asking people at Bruce Park to help their investigation of 3-year-old’s death

Jacksonville, FL — Less than a day after the body of 3-year-old Amari Harley was found in an underground water holding tank in Bruce Park, JSO is asking you to come forward if you were at the park, because you may have "pertinent information".

JSO says they have tried to contact everyone who was at the Arlington park at the time the boy went missing, but there were multiple events going on, so they believe there are people they haven’t yet had contact with who could help detectives. If you were at Bruce Park from noon to 5PM Sunday and haven’t been in contact with JSO, you’re asked to contact 904-630-0500.

A Florida Missing Child Alert was issued for Amari, after his family could not locate him at the park, where many of them were gathered. JSO conducted a large-scale search and ultimately located the boy’s remains in an underground water holding tank.

WOKV asked the City of Jacksonville if they’re reviewing safety around these tanks at public parks.

“We are incredibly saddened by this tragedy. As JSO conducts its investigation, the City is assisting them by providing any information that will lead to a thorough and full review. The safety and security of visitors to City parks are paramount. The City will also be inspecting how this tragedy occurred, to ensure that all City parks are safe and secure,” says a statement from Director of Public Affairs Marsha Oliver.
