Clark Howard: Use artificial intelligence to keep your home cool this summer

Jacksonville, Fl — Summer is right around the corner but for some in the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia area, it’s already here.

As we brace for even warmer temperatures, Consumer Warrior Clark Howard is checking in to make sure you don’t get “sticker-shock” when you open your electricity bill.

Clark suggests that you jump ahead of your electricity bill and use artificial intelligence to keep your bill down. He wants you to buy an artificial intelligence thermostat.

"They learn your pattern; learn about when you're home and when you're not and automatically adjust the temperature so you're comfortable when you're there but you're not unnecessarily cooling your home when you're not."

Clark says the most famous brand of them is Nest but there are plenty of imitators out there. He says the thermostats generally start around $80. Clark insists that the money pays off because it will reduce the cost of cooling in your home by about 25%.

Clark says he keeps his home at 78 degrees except at night.
