Body found in Columbia County woods identified as 32-year-old man

LAKE CITY, Fla. — A body found in the woods in Lake City last week has been identified by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The man found dead was Shawn Waldron, 32, of Lake City, CCSO said.

In a news release, CCSO called Waldron a “homicide victim.”

Waldron’s body was found by another person on Tuesday, April 11 in woods near NE Gum Swamp Road. At that time, CCSO said foul play was suspected in Waldron’s death.

“Delivering such terrible news to a family about their loved one is never easy,” Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victim’s family as we continue to work to bring closure to this case.”
