County Road 218 Bridge to remain closed through December

Clay County has hired a contractor to handle repairs to the County Road 218 Bridge, but those repairs are expected to take time to complete.

Emergency Management says repairs are expected to last through December 23rd. The Bridge has been closed since mid-September, because of damage from Irma. We're told the significant flooding and currents from Irma caused scouring on the pilings supporting the Bridge, which created an immediate safety concern.

Blanding and State Road 16 are the recommended alternates.
