Earlier start to storms, heavy rainfall likely

Jacksonville, FL — We are starting off mild in the 70’s this morning under mostly cloudy skies. Highs today will climb to the upper 80’s to near 90 degrees.

A few sprinkles/showers are possible this morning but most spots stay dry.  A few showers and storms will begin to pop between 12 and 2 pm for areas along and west of Highway 301.  Those storms will progress to the east through the afternoon.

The main threat is locally heavy downpours and lightning strikes. A gusty wind is also possible with any of the stronger storms.

The rest of the week will feature highs in the lower to mid 90’s and widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms. This weekend will be hot with highs in the mid 90’s and feels like temps of 100+.  Saturday and Sunday will see some widely scattered afternoon storms each day. There will be more dry hours than wet for the weekend.
