Father arrested for leaving 6-year-old in the car while he was inside of the bar

Jacksonville — A Fernandina Beach man is facing several charges after police say he left his daughter in the car for hours while he drank at a bar.

In the arrest report from the Fernandina Beach Police, an officer was called to Hammerhead Bar with reports a man was trying fight other patrons.  In the report the officer says he was directed to Jeffrey Supple who, ‘ was very unstable on his feet’ and had a strong odor of alcohol.

The officer then told Supple to call for someone to pick him up from the bar.  According to the arrest report, Supple’s father came to the scene. That’s when Supple began to ask where his daughter was.

The officer wrote in the report that Supple said he brought his six-year-old daughter into the bar with him. The bar staff however said they didn’t see the child when Supple arrived around Midnight.

A short time later Supple’s car was located parked behind the Hammerhead bar with his six-year-old daughter asleep in the backseat.  The vehicle was not running and the car windows were rolled out up, the report estimates the child was in the car for roughly two hours.

Police arrested Supple for Child Neglect without causing great bodily harm.
