Fugitive arrested in Clay County for charges of sexual assault on young girl

Jacksonville, FL — A man who was living in Fleming Island was arrested on an out of state warrant for sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Ohio.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced via Facebook the arrest of 50-year-old Clarence Sheese.  He was arrested Monday by Clay Deputies and the US Marshal Service as part of a joint investigation.

A spokesman for the Marshal Service says Sheese first popped up on their radar during a traffic stop, leading to an investigation of the warrant that was issued in August of 2018 in Stark County, Ohio.  The Marshal Service says the incident occurred in July of 2018 and involved a family acquaintance.

Sheese is charged with two counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition, according to a Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Sheese was arrested Monday evening at a female friend’s home and, according to the Marshal Service, the woman is not facing any charges.
