Jacksonville Coronavirus peak hasn’t come, but social distancing is working

Jacksonville, FL — Efforts locally to socially distance, wear masks and minimize small gatherings appear to be having an impact as a projected wave of coronavirus hospitalizations has flattened some.

But Dr. David Caro with UF Health Jacksonville told Jacksonville’s Morning News that it doesn’t look like we’ve hit the peak of coronavirus quite yet.

“We’re doing a good job with the social distancing of pushing our curve out farther so that hopefully we’re not going to get overwhelmed in the area. But we still anticipate that we’re going to get a number more cases it’s just the wave hasn’t hit us yet”, Caro said.

Some of the prediction models have reduced the number of cases we might see, but have pushed the peak out as far as into June, in some cases, Caro said.
